Found this site called http://catfishingweapon.com Basically it's a green light that you sink into the water, it attracts zooplankton, which attracts bait fish, which attracts fish you want to catch. He claims only 2 states have outlawed the device. He wants $200 for the "kit". I figure that it works half as well as he claims even I could catch some fish. When I walk up to the shore all the fish swim to the other side. If I'm carrying my pole you can hear them laughing all the way. It's so bad that I quit fishing for about 15 years. Anyway, I figure if I try one of these green undercar neon lights made for tuners it should do the same thing for less than $30. One catch, of course. SCDNR freshwater fishing regulations state under the heading PROHIBITED PRACTICES: Game or nongame fish may not be attracted or taken by explosives, electrical devices, poison or similar means. Does anyone have experience with such a device?, or a Game Warden finding fault with it? Anyone want to add their $.02? I really want to try it, but I'm not willing to break the law, no matter how tempting it is or how hard the fish laugh.

I've used a greenish underwater light a lot catfishing in my boat. It does draw a huge number of minnows. I'm not sure how much it helped draw catfish in but I almost always used it. I got it and a replacement from Bass Pro catalog or maybe Cabela's.

Chumming the area a couple of days before ya fish helps a huge amount I've found. Biodegradable containers with small holes, partially filled with canned, cheap dogfood sunk where ya plan on fishing usually works wonders. Unless someone lucks up on your "hole" before ya get to use it............

Don, I guess you haven't had any game warden problems. When I lived in Murphy for 4 years I looked at the NC fishing regs and it was so complicated I did'nt even try to fish. SC seems to have so much less regs, I figure the light might be worth a try. And I like the idea of chumming ahead of time too. Thanks, even I might catch something. Or at least stop the fish from laughing.
